Mark – Royal Engineer Veteran

Mark served as a corporal in the Royal Engineers and completed numerous tours around the world. When leaving the military Mark had a lack of confidence and a lack of self belief.

Mark was initially skeptical with regards to attending the Lifeworks course, however on the first day of attending the course Mark felt comfortable discussing the employment path he wished to follow and found support from the lifeworks team along with other veterans on the course.

Since attending the course Mark has noticed a huge improvement in his confidence and has been given the tools and guidence needed to support him in his career progression and has since found work.

Nick – Royal Navy Veteran

“I walked out of the Lifeworks course smiling. It was a massive confidence boost and I should’ve done it ages ago!”

As a result of 24 years in the Royal Navy, Nick now suffers from severe arthritis and problems with his spine, hips and joints. Nick told us that his chronic pain was slowly wearing away at his personality and mental state, and so he was finding it difficult to find work due to a lack of confidence, afraid of how his disability would affect his employment prospects.

Since attending our award-winning Lifeworks course, Nick has gained a newfound confidence in himself, taking away an improved knowledge of his employability skills such as interview techniques and an ability to respond to interview questions. Lifeworks also helped Nick with tips and support for job searching and identifying key companies of interest.

Nick commented that he had been reluctant to take the first step into support from a charity, but now looks forward to new prospects in his life, stating that he “should’ve done it ages ago”. Our Lifeworks experts pride themselves on supporting every veteran simply by learning about their individual situation and experiences and using that to boost their confidence for new employment opportunities.

Bernard – British Army Veteran

“This training has enabled me to achieve my goals”

Bernard previously served 6 years in the Army before leaving in 2011. He began working for a well-known retail company but was suffering from PTSD and depression following his military service. Bernard’s deteriorating health concerns, unfortunately, led to the loss of his job in 2014; leaving him unemployed for 6 years.

Despite receiving a Masters qualification in 2018, Bernard was still experiencing a lack of confidence, and with no clarity on which job roles he should be applying for.

Our award-winning Lifeworks course supported Bernard with CV writing, interview techniques and practice to boost his confidence as well as employer research.

Bernard states that our Lifeworks course has enabled him to achieve his goals, and that’s exactly what our team of experts provide every veteran following their service in the Armed Forces. Each individual has their own story, and we strive to support them by utilizing their existing skills and experiences to find the perfect employment opportunity suited to them.
